Stuart Scott Somerville

Stuart Scott Somerville (1908 - 1983) was active/lived in United Kingdom.  Stuart Somerville is known for Still life, figure, andscape painting.

Stuart Somerville was the official artist on the British Museum Expedition of 1934-35 to the Equatorial Mountains of East Africa.  Many of his works were illustrated in "Mountains of the Moon" by his fellow explorer, Patrick Synge, published in 1937 (see Introduction, p.XXII "Yet in places there still survives something of the old tribal Africa, with its dances and with its clayed faces, which Somerville met one day and has drawn ... ".)
